Cargotec won the largest foreign direct investment in Poland in 2009.
On September 8, 2009 Cargotec celebrated the establishment of a new multi-assembly unit in Stargard Szczecinski. The foundation stone ceremony for the new multi-assembly unit was hosted by Cargotec’s President and CEO Mr. Mikael Mäkinen.
Cargotech is a global corporation offering cargo handling solutions for the loading and unloading of goods on land and at sea. The company is implementing an ambitous investment strategy at its new manufacturing location in Stargard Szczecinski, Northern Poland. Asvanyi-PLCI is supporting Cargotec during the start-up phase of the project.
Cargotec celebrates the foundation of its new multi-assembly unit in Poland
Secretary of State Mr. Rafal Baniak from the Ministry of Economy, Poland was the guest of honour in the event. Over a hundred representatives of local and country level authorities have been invited to foster long term co-operation in Poland. The ceremony also hosted a local and an international press conference.
Cargotec announced the investment plan concerning the new assembly unit in North-West Poland, Stargard area in April this year. The purchase of 41 hectares of land was finalised in June 2009. The production is planned to start in 2010 on 26.700 m2 production area, offices and a small paint shop; it will then accommodate some 200 employees. Construction works are proceeding according to schedule. Test production is planned to start in the new assembly hall in the first half of next year. During May 2009 Cargotec rented facilities in Goleniów with 15.180 m2 production area and offices, some 40 km from Stargard. The assembly of first products started in September.
By the end of September 2009 MAU Poland has hired approximately 50 people; the management team with their key resources have been hired during the last two quarters and trained to meet the requirements of the first two production start-ups. Recruitment and building the organization according to Cargotec MAU template is continuing with the target to employ some total 70 people by the year end.
Having the key resources hired, basic procedures implemented and a local Human Resources team on-board Asvanyi-PLCI continues to focus on change management. Focus areas are competence development, communication and involvement of stakeholders outside Poland and defining key business processes.
